Job overview

An opportunity has  arose to be part of the Freeman Catering Department, we have a Nightshift Catering Assistant post working in the Freeman restaurant between the hours of 10pm and 2am, serving the hospital nightshift workers, Hot and Cold food, snacks and drinks. This role will involve cash handling and operating an electronic cash register. You will work 3 shifts one week and then 4 shifts the following week on a rolling basis, averaging 14 hours per week over the month.

Main duties of the job

The main duties include-

  • Setting up the servery with the hot food ready for service.
  • Serving the customers with hot and cold food, homemade sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
  • Cash handling and cashing up.
  • Replenishing stock.
  • Cleaning of the service area.
  • Locking up and securing the area after service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective preparation and service of food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors including the associated cleaning and hygiene related duties.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
