We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Scientist to act as treatment planning lead for the Radiotherapy service in Carlisle. You will be employed by Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust who have recently begun management of the Carlisle service. The post will be based both in Newcastle and Carlisle with time split approximately equally between the two sites. As the successful candidate, you will play a major role in leading the Radiotherapy Planning service in Carlisle. You would be expected to work closely with colleagues in both Newcastle and Carlisle to harmonise delivery of the Treatment Planning service across the two sites.
You will be capable of working at MPE level and if not already appointed as an MPE you will be expected to work towards MPE registration. You will be able to demonstrate leadership skills including leading on a major project and show that you can provide clinical, scientific and technical advice to a wide range of other professional groups including clinical, technical, managerial staff both within and outside of Carlisle.
The Radiotherapy Service in Carlisle is due to relocate to a brand new, purpose built department on the Cumberland Infirmary site in autumn 2021. This will house two Varian TrueBeam linacs, matched to the five in Newcastle, Aria oncology management system and a Siemens CT scanner with 4D capabilities. Radiotherapy treatment planning is undertaken on Raystation which is hosted in Newcastle.
