Band 5           £24,907 to £30,615 per annum

Band 6           £31,365 to £37,890 per annum

We have a training opportunity for a band 5/6 nurse (depending upon experience) to work at Newcroft Centre. This is a very busy integrated Sexual Health Centre situated in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. We are looking for a 1st Level Registered Nurse, ideally with post registration experience of working within a related field of expertise. 

The successful applicant will be trained in all aspects of delivering a sexual health service including taking a sexual history, undertaking genital examinations, taking a range of tests for infections, microscopy, making a diagnosis and providing treatment.

You will also be expected to undertake the FFSRH diploma in contraception through the faculty of family planning and reproductive health. This will enable you to assess patients for all types of contraception and provide all forms of hormonal contraception, except fitting of IUD/S, but including the fitting and removal of implants.  

Upon successful completion of this course and when able to undertake the full range of duties this post will become substantive as a band 6. This can take up to 2 years dependant on which qualifications you need to undertake to meet the essential criteria of the Band 6 job description.

In addition the successful applicant will also receive further ongoing training and professional development which is required for this post.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated team member who thrives in an environment of ongoing development and service improvement. You must be an excellent communicator with a flexible approach, putting clients at the centre of the service.
