LOCUM CONSULTANT INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGIST

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.

Applications are invited for a joint consultant post in Cardiology in the Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals Trust shared with Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead (QEH).  We are looking to create a joint appointment Consultant Cardiologist post with an interest in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).  The post will be based at the Freeman Hospital and QEH.  At the Freeman you will join a team of 9 interventional cardiologist (7 NHS and 2 PT Academic Interventional cardiologist).  It is envisaged that the post-holder will contribute to the interventional service, including the full range of interventional techniques and provision of Primary PCI on-call cover.  The post holder will be expected to work in close collaboration with the existing team of Consultant Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, and allied specialities.

The post attracts 10 Programmed Activities (4 NUTH and 6 QEH) per week in a 1 in 11.5 on-call for intervention.

In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.

Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Appointments Committee.
