CONSULTANT HAEMATOLOGIST

Applications are invited for this 4 day a week substantive consultant post to join a team of twenty other Consultant Haematologists in Newcastle upon Tyne.  Based in one of the UK’s liveliest cities you will be part of a dynamic Trust that is committed to investing in its services and staff to ensure we continue to be at the forefront of delivering high quality, leading edge services.

 

The post provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic haemato-oncology department established in delivering the full range of cancer therapies including transplantation, early phase clinical trials and Immune Effector Cells including CAR-T cell therapies. A clinical interest in myeloma and/or lyphoma would also be particularly welcomed.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to become a core member of appropriate multi-disciplinary teams and, with the support of colleagues, provide tertiary advice to colleagues with regard to patients being treated at other sites within the region and nationally.

 

Extensive links already exist between the clinical unit and research teams at Newcastle University; the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop his / her research interests.  It is expected that the post-holder will be an active recruiter to available clinical trials and build on our successful research programme.  The successful candidate would be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

 

Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register for Haematology within six months of the date of the interview panel.
